Jakarta has several museum but this one is probably the hippest among all. It is a modern art museum called Museum MACAN. MACAN is actually short for Modern And Contemporary Art in Nusantara.
Located in West Jakarta, Museum MACAN is currently having an exhibition called “Art Turns. World Turns.”. In this exhibition, they bring Yayoi Kusama’s work that is Infinity Room. This Infinity Room brings Museum MACAN to its debut as modern art museum in Jakarta. Infinity Room is actually a quite small room with glasses on all side of the room and filled with colorful light ball. People are queueing to go inside so Museum MACAN has a strict rule about this. We can go inside the Infinity Room around 10 – 45 seconds depending on the crowd.
For me, I went on Thursday morning, arrived at Museum MACAN around 10am. I’ve bought my ticket online to avoid long queue but turned out there was no queue at all. By buying ticket online, we just need to open the PDF from the phone and scan the QRCode.
The first thing I did was to visit the Infinity Room. It is also located nearby the entrance door. And thankfully, there is NO queue at all 😀 but still, the staff has to set a timer to 45 seconds and then the staff will knock the door. When there is no one else in the queue, you can still be inside for another 45 seconds. But, the longer the queue, the shorter the time.
Other than the Infinity Room, there are also other art that we can see. From classic art to modern art, there are a lot of art that we can enjoy to see. There are a few interesting art that caught my eyes. Here they are:
